4.3.2 The row reduced echelon form
MATLAB knows a command to perform Gauss elimination on a matrix, i.e., to perform elementary row operations on the
matrix to obtain the row reduced echelon form. Within MATLAB, the row reduced echelon form of a (symbolic) matrix A
can be obtained with the command
>> rref(A)
I you would apply this command to the extended coefficient matrix of a set of equations, you can obtain the general
solution
from the result.
